Strike Leadership Tree
editor- in - chief

Being Editor-in-Chief of Strike Magazine means being the face of the organization for the Gainesville branch and leading the magazine from concept to launch. I oversee 3 branches : External, Creative, and Editorial , along with the full board of directors, and in total manage 16 teams. I set the creative direction, make final calls, and ensure each issue is executed cohesively each semester.

I started at Strike as a photographer for three issues and quickly got more involved beyond just showing up with my camera. I earned my staff award within my team my first issue and then began shadowing the Creative Director to learn how shoots and teams were led behind the scenes. From there, I was elected Editor-in-Chief as a junior, stepping into the role with no prior director title but a proven track record of consistency, leadership, and execution :-)

Strike matters because it operates at a real scale. With 15 branches nationwide, it’s the largest student-run magazine in the country, and the work is treated with real expectations. Everything we do is visible, collaborative, and deadline-driven.
Leading the Gainesville branch, the second largest in the organization. means managing a large creative team that has our own identity, but carries Strike’s national identity in every issue.

9 Concepts
These are the shoots from the magazine that I concepted during the summer, about two months before shoot season, alongside my Creative Director. We built each concept from the ground up: deciding the lighting direction, styling, nails, makeup, set design, and how it would look in our final layouts. That early planning is what kept our shoot season organized and made it easy for us to guide our directors.
Every photo in the magazine was edited by me using Adobe Lightroom & Adobe Photoshop.
Graphic Design
I design social graphics that set the tone for our Issue’s aesthetic: from application announcements and staff list drops to full launch promotion. The goal for me is always to make our important moments feel exciting, clear, and visually consistent. Our Instagram became the first Strike branch to hit 10K, and being able to build a recognizable identity over time helped with that!

Magazine Layout
I worked with my Creative Director to build the magazine layout from the ground up in Adobe InDesign. Every decision was intentional: typography, color palette, grids, spacing, and the small design elements that make the pages feel cohesive. This was my first time working for a big project for print! I had to learn about how the digital form would translate on paper, so magazine bleeds, page numbers, credits etc..
